The 3rd annual St. Louis Day of .NET Conference was held on August 20th and 21st, 2010. To say that the event was successful is definitely an understatement.
We have upwards of 680 people attending the conference, ranging from developers, architects, quality assurance, managers, designers, DBAs and other technology positions. We tried to make sure that compared to last year, the whole experience is improved; registration on the first day was a much better affair compared to our last effort - the volunteers for the conference greatly diminished long wait times.
There were some technical glitches early on (speakers were given hand-held microphone, rather than clip-ons), but most was resolved before sessions commenced. Ameristar provided plenty of refreshments for breakfast, boxed lunch was served, coffee (essential fuel for developers) flows continuously; no shortage was experienced.
Plenty of attendees expressed interest in getting presentation materials and project codes from the sessions they follow; we are working with our speakers to get these information and will notify attendees when these are made available. Please follow our Facebook page or Twitter account for these announcements.
We hope every attendee went away happy, satisfied, have a better understanding and even encouraged to learn more about new technologies in .NET, databases, website development, architecture principles and software development in general.
From the first conference that started in December 2008, we have grown pretty rapidly and our attendance count has increased quite a bit. Handling the growth of an event this size would not have been possible without the large numbers of organizations and individuals that have devoted their precious time and resources to pull this conference together.
The organizers would like to thank:
- All of our corporate sponsors who donated the needed funds and raffle prizes which helped made this event possible and be successful
- All the speakers, some of whom came from faraway places, who provided their time and effort in sharing their knowledge, have discussion with attendees, provided sessions on exciting, new technologies - all of which supplies the true value of this conference
- All the volunteers who have donated their time for this event - setting up the venue on Thursday evening, helping with registrations, directing attendees to proper rooms and sessions, distributing evaluation forms and helping with final cleanup on Saturday
- Last, but definitely not least, we would like to thank YOU, the attendees, for registering and coming to our conference; we hope you enjoyed your sessions and will continue to support us in the future
This conference was ultimately envisioned and put together for the community and by the community. We encourage all of you to visit www.stlnet.org and become involved in our local organization by attending our monthly meetings or even volunteering to share your knowledge by becoming a presenter.
We would like to thank all those that support conference - the organizers are taking some time off from the activities of the event, focusing on our daily work. But don't fret; we already collated a couple of ideas to further improve the event for next year - we will provide a better event!
